2022 CLEAA Conference: How to Protect Intellectual Property in the Digital Age

Session #4:  The move to digital delivery and work has provided enormous benefits to enable access to knowledge and learning through the pandemic. This increased use in technology has also enabled increased collaboration and sharing of information, as well as an amount of digital data and assets that can now be collected and accessed – by anyone.

In this session, Cameron Gascoyne from Clayton Utz will provide practical tips for the L&D function in relation to the proper and improper use of teaching aids and materials including licenses, exclusivity, permissions, recordings and other information to protect your firm and your own intellectual property assets through this new digital way of working.

Cameron will cover:

  • Protecting your IP
  • Movement to digital assets – paper, ppts/presentations of content, recording sessions
  • Accidentally infringed IP rights…or IP rights are being infringed
  • Practical tips for the learning and development function to protect your firm/firm assets….protect yourself/protect your assets.

Cameron is a Partner in the Brisbane office of Clayton Utz.

He specialises in intellectual property and technology law, advising public and private sector clients across a broad range of industries and transaction types. He has over 20 years’ experience advising on the protection, commercialisation and enforcement of intellectual property.

Cameron received the Lawyers Weekly Intellectual Property Partner of the Year Award in 2022.
